I’m going to talk to you about something very important. Therefore, I ask the Holy Spirit to help you overcome any distractions that appear in the next few minutes. There is one thing, something very specific, that is the most important thing in your life. I assure you. You can’t imagine anything more important than this. And it is urgent.
The Bible says that heaven and hell are real places. Several dozen verses allude to heaven as the place where people chosen by God go, that is, as the eternal destiny of the redeemed. I could quote each of these verses, but to be brief, I’ll leave a list of 10 verses for you to do your own research:
Philippians 3:20-21 | 2 Corinthians 5:1 | 1 Peter 1:3-4 | Matthew 6:20 | Matthew 19:21 | Luke 10:20 | Matthew 25:34 | Hebrews 9:24 | 1 Peter 1:4-5 | Ephesians 2:6
Also, throughout the Bible, there are several dozen verses that refer to hell as an eternal destiny, a place of eternal punishment. I will leave another list of 10 verses:
Matthew 10:28 | Matthew 25:41 | Mark 9:43 | Revelation 14:10-11 | Revelation 19:20 | Revelation 20:10 | Revelation 20:14-15 | Revelation 21:8 | Matthew 23:33 | Proverbs 15:24
Reading these verses should make it clear to us that hell and heaven are real places, above all: Eternal! These verses can also make it clear to us that, while heaven is a wonderful place, hell is something infinitely terrible, a place that the human mind cannot even imagine. If you truly believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that God cannot lie, this revelation should worry you. Do you have assurance of your salvation? If your answer to this question is doubtful, I ask you to continue reading, because God, in his infinite mercy, gave us a simple way to achieve salvation.
The Bible says “if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). It’s that simple. I ask you to reread this verse at least two more times (to understand well). Confessing with the mouth that “Jesus is Lord” involves declaring with an audible voice (out loud) that Jesus is the ruler and sovereign of our lives. It is an act of humility, surrender and total dedication to Jesus as our Savior and Lord. It is a recognition that we need his forgiveness, and that we desire to follow and obey him in everything. However, lip confession is not enough on its own. It is also required to believe in your heart “that God raised him from the dead.” Here is the other key to the matter. The resurrection of Jesus is the supreme evidence of his divinity and power over death. Believing in the heart involves having a genuine and deep faith in the redemptive work of Jesus, trusting that his sacrifice on the cross paid for all our sins.
Does it seem very simple? TRUE? And it is! But not for everyone. For many people this act of surrender is very difficult. Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you hid these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to little children” (Matthew 11:25). He also said, “Truly I say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:2-4). The entire Bible points out that God hates pride and is pleased with humility. For this reason, the plan of salvation is only accessible to people who are able to humble themselves before God, for He will not allow anyone to boast in his presence (Ephesians 2: 8-9).
Now, pay close attention, we come to the critical point. One of the most quoted verses in the Bible says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Trusting in the revelation that the Holy Spirit can give you, I leave you one last verse: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
God wants to give you eternal life today. He only asks you to believe in his Son and in the sacrifice he made for you. God not only knows your name, he knows all the details of your life, he knows everything you are going through, he knows your thoughts, your doubts, he knows your faults, he knows your qualities, your feelings, your anxieties. God knows everything about you… and he loves you. God loves you immensely. No matter what you’ve done, no matter how bad your past is, God loves you! Believe it! God wants to save your soul from a horrible eternal fate. You just have to confess with your mouth (with an audible voice) that Jesus is Lord and accept the revelation that God raised him from the dead. It is very important that you do it out loud. Only you can do that! Nobody can do it for you! I encourage you to take that step right now!
I invite you, in an act of surrender and faith, as a child would do, with humility, kneel in your room, or wherever you are, and make your confession of faith (out loud) with this short prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me. I repent of my sins. I need a new life. Today I ask you to come into my life. I give you my heart, my life, my being, what I have, what I am. Accept me Lord. I need you. Forgive my sins. Save me. Write my name in the Book of Life. Make me a new person. I want to be born again. I give permission to the Holy Spirit to take control of my life. I believe in your sacrifice on the cross and in your resurrection. I believe that you are the Son of God. I believe you paid for my sins. Thank you Lord Jesus. I recognize you as my only Lord and Savior. Amen.
We will be happy to hear your testimony!
