Let’s not fool ourselves, living in this world is not a walk in the park. It is not easy to exist in a fallen world. Jesus warns us that in this world we will face afflictions, trials and difficulties. But here comes the wonderful thing: Jesus offers us something that the world can never give us: His peace from Him! Jesus wants us to find peace in Him in the midst of storms and tribulations. How is that possible? It is possible for a compelling reason: He has overcome the world! Jesus has triumphed over all power, all darkness and all adversity, and his victory is ours! Believe it! His Spirit is in us. When we face difficult situations, when worries threaten to rob us of peace, Jesus invites us to trust Him. He assures us that, despite afflictions, His peace will prevail in our lives. We are not alone, we have the Holy Spirit living in us. The peace of Jesus is not a superficial or temporary peace. It is a peace that goes beyond our human understanding. It is a peace that sustains us in the midst of the storm, it is a peace that calms our anxieties and fills us with hope. It is a peace that transcends circumstances. In the midst of chaos and adversity, Jesus invites us to trust in his power. He reminds us that no matter how intense the struggles we face, He has already overcome the world. There is nothing that can defeat our Savior. He remembers that afflictions are not the end of the story. In Christ we find the hope of a glorious future, of a glorious eternity. No matter how difficult the circumstances are, we know that in Him we will find the peace we need. Everything that we think is irreversible or impossible has already been defeated by Jesus. This verse brings a powerful promise from our God, treasure it!
